V8STAR Race Series - Steinmetz as Partner for GAG
The V8STAR race series offers pure excitement - from qualifying through to the race. In 2001 the V8STAR race series started the season with a totally new and unique concept. The concept and the main features are that for the first time, high quality touring car races will be run in Germany with "silhouette" vehicles, i.e. there are five different plastic bodies based in design on standard models. All models have the same technology which ensures a totally level playing field. This level playing field makes close collaboration between driver and engineers in finding the right chassis set up particularly important.
The race cars have large volume eight-cylinder engines which must cover a distance of 160 kilometres in each race. This distance is divided into two separate races each of 80 km. Spectators enjoy a short time between the individual qualifying sessions and races as, according to the guiding principle of the V8STAR race series, "Accessible motorsport", all spectators can wander round the paddock and get close to their favourites. So STEINMETZ fans - true to the STEINMETZ motto "Motorsport engineering for the road" - can experience the cars at close quarters. At any free moment during the day it is quite possible that team manager Peter Biermann or drivers Steffen Widmann and Thomas Mutsch from our co-operation partner GAG Team will find time to answer direct questions.
