Astra GTC

Heart of the complete concept STEINMETZ Astra GT/C, which was launched as a world premiere at the ESSEN-MOTOR-SHOW 1998, is the 2.3 litre four cylinder four valve engine. With this engine the also weight-optimized STEINMETZ Astra GT/C has road performances like a sports car.
Our engine technicians developed an ingenious concept to reach an optimal performance of the 2.0 16V Ecotec engine. First step is the capacity increase from 2.0 to 2.3 litres with a special crankshaft with longer piston stroke, exactly balanced rods and forged pistons with special profile and bigger diameter.

The other modifications on the inner life of the engine include the machining of the cylinder head and the assembly of sports camshafts. In the periphery there is used a STEINMETZ single throttle injection with special air collector as well as a high performance exhaust system with STEINMETZ special catalyst and rear muffler made of stainless steel with two - STEINMETZ-typical - trapeziform tail-pipes.
