Heart of the complete concept STEINMETZ Astra GT/C, which was launched as a world premiere at the ESSEN-MOTOR-SHOW 1998, is the 2.3 litre four cylinder four valve engine. With this engine the also weight-optimized STEINMETZ Astra GT/C has road performances like a sports car. |
| Our engine technicians developed an ingenious concept to reach an optimal performance of the 2.0 16V Ecotec engine. First step is the capacity increase from 2.0 to 2.3 litres with a special crankshaft with longer piston stroke, exactly balanced rods and forged pistons with special profile and bigger diameter. |

The other modifications on the inner life of the engine include the machining of the cylinder head and the assembly of sports camshafts. In the periphery there is used a STEINMETZ single throttle injection with special air collector as well as a high performance exhaust system with STEINMETZ special catalyst and rear muffler made of stainless steel with two - STEINMETZ-typical - trapeziform tail-pipes.
